Í Read ↠´ Torchwood: Department X by James Goss ☆ James Goss writes the best Torchwood stories, and Kai Owen reads them brilliantly I still think Ghost Train is better but this one is damn good Beware of Spoilers Yeah Another book narrated by Kai Owen I love his voice, it has something soothing to listen to and he does have a nice play with words when he reads parts for different characters That and the Welsh accent makes it for me fun to listen to But I wonder, in the other audio books drama s I listened to They tried to let the story be narrated by one of the actors playing a lead role in the particular book They didn t do it this time Which makes me wonder if no one else was available But I am really pleased with Kai So the story Something fishy is going on in G.
R Owen come on guys I know Russel T Davies had this thing with names where everyone is called Jones, but do the writers of the Torchwood novels also have to start It s getting really con The narration was terrific The story was just ok The plot was a bit hard to follow at times It wasn t bad, just not great Kai s reading, though, was superb.
Another great Torchwood audio book James Goss writes these characters so well, and Kai Owen does a splendid job narrating.

Torchwood if it s alien, it s ours operatives Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones are working undercover cosmetics, and gentlemen s clothing at GR Owen, Cardiff s ageing department store in the last throes of decline with a brand new shopping mall next door nailing the lid on the coffin As GR Owen is threatened with takeover and being turned into flats this is Captain Jack Harkness last opportunity to solve one of Torchwood s oldest mysteries, the disappearance of the eponymous GR Owen, original owner of the store, and the location of the Department of Curiosities It doesn t help that the building itself keeps trying to kill him, pitching him down a lift shaft, dropping a chandelier on him, but he keeps coming back Firestone bank has brought in the administrators and within the claustrophobic confines of dated bedding department, gentlemen s wear, home furnishings, and behind the sce department of curiosities 2 14 , They keep killing Jack ,.

net GR Owen Is The Last Of Cardiff S Old Department Stores Times Are Hard And The Ancient Firm Has Gone Into Administration But Who Are The Administrators What Goes On Behind The Shutters At Night And Why Are Customers Disappearing Torchwood Are Already Investigating GR Owen Is The Site Of Their Oldest Unsolved Cases, And Jack Is Determined To Solve It Before The Store Closes Forever Which Is Why Ianto Is Working Undercover In Gentlemen S Fashions And Gwen Is In Handbags Are The New Managers Really Aliens What Connection Do They Have To The Mysterious GR Owen Himself And Is Jack The Only One Looking For The Department Of Curiosities, Last Seen In Written Specially For Audio By James Goss, Department X Is Set Before The Children Of Earth TV Story And Features Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper And Ianto Jones, As Played By John Barrowman, Eve Myles And Gareth David Lloyd In The Hit Series From BBC Television It Is read By Kai Owen, Who Plays Gwen S Husband Rhys CDs Hrs Mins Well, well, well This is the first book by Mr Goss that I didn t give an F Maybe he s getting better Or perhaps I am getting lenient The base plot of this story is that there s something up at an old department store in Cardiff and apparently this mystery has been Torchwood s oldest unsolved case which I find really hard to believe since Torchwood was created around the 1870s and this department store mystery didn t come around until the early to mid 1900s Sorry James Goss, didn t buy that one.
The characterization in this novel is fine a change for Mr Goss In a nutshell, Jack was cocky, Gwen was snoopy, Ianto was dry There s Jack Ianto scenes in this book so Jack Ianto shippers will be happy Rhys really isn t in this novel at all despite that Kai Owen narrates There s an enemy in this book, not really the monster of the week, that apparently has been This was a rather lighter one than the other ones from the Torchwood series both show and books that I ve encountered since now It was also one of the first audiobooks in general that I ve managed to listen to the end until now, so that says a lot I loved it, and really liked the idea of Firestone as Torchwood s rival, and also the way they were so similar instead of If it s alien, it s ours it was If it s alien, it s profit The setting was something new and intriguing we don t get to see them go undercover all that much and the music that accompanied some of the intensive scenes was well picked for the occasion.
The characterisation of everyone was really good, in my opinion Especially Gwen she s been a part of Torchwood for a long time now and yet, when she sees that they are capable of using aliens in an Earth war, she detaches herself from them for a wh This is the first actual Torchwood audiobook that I ve listened to, and did so while driving back to Kamloops from Prince George It was a great form of entertainment on such a long drive There was moments where it had me really laughing out loud Kai Owens did a great job narrating, and really made it feel like a real episode The personalities of the main characters really came through, and it was easy to get to know the secondary characters as well.
The story itself was really interesting and kept my attention, and it kept me wanting to know what happened next.
I have another Torchwood audiobook story, also read by Kai Ownes, and I am eager and excited to listen to it as well I also want to start finding the other audiobooks so I can listen to theme too Some of the other actors have done the narrating for some of the audiobooks
